About the courses:
The Acting 1 course is designed to help the beginning actor learn the
basics of acting. With games and exercises the student will learn about
the fundamentals of a character: Intention, Tactic, and obstacles. Working
towards releasing the inner judge we all have in ourselves, and trusting
our natural instinct. Animal Work, Monologue and scenes will be part of
the curriculum. The beginning course will focus on Uta Hagen and external
work.
The Acting 2 course will use the basics from the first
class and build upon that with an intro to Method Acting and internal
work. With guided assistance actors will learn not to push and to be "in
the moment" utilizing himself to bring the most out of a character.
This class is designed for the actor who is comfortable in taking risks
in a safe environment and familiar with the basics of character development.
Emotional Recall, Sense Memory, and Private Moments as well as Monologue
and/or scenework will be part of the curriculum.
The Acting 3 class can be a ongoing class that works predominately on Monologues and Scenes. Using exercises from both Uta Hagen and The Method, this course will help students break through habitual acting patterns, stumbling blocks and inner judgments to create believable and living “in the moment” characters on stage. The student will have at least two scenes and three monologues by the end of the class. Monologue and Scenework will be part of the curriculum.
